Two individuals have been identified from the devastating boating accident that occurred on Tickfaw River on Sunday, July 28th.
The deadly crash happened on the Tickfaw River near Kings Point, Livingston Parish, around midnight. Two people were killed and six others were injured.
Thuy Gustin, 31, a passenger on a 25-foot boat named “Sea Fox”, was trapped underneath the vessel after it capsized. She was pulled from the water by a Wildlife & Fisheries agent and a good Samaritan, but later died at North Oaks Hospital. She leaves behind her husband and two children. The driver of the other boat involved, a pontoon boat, Chase Sharkey, 36, was also killed in the crash. His body was recovered about 12 hours later.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDFW). No one on either boat was wearing a life jacket at the time of the collision.
This is a terrible tragedy, and our deepest condolences go out to the families and friends of those involved.
