Baker, LA (8/05/24) - On Wednesday, July 31, A fatal car accident occurred on Old Scenic Highway, just outside of Baker.
According to the Louisiana State Police, 41-year-old Derek Guessfeld of Baker was driving near Groom Road around 9 a.m. when his vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with another car.
Troopers reported that Guessfeld was transported to a hospital, where he died of his injuries. The driver of the other vehicle sustained moderate injuries and was also hospitalized.
