On Sunday, July 22, there were confirmed injuries and an unfortunate death after a serious two-vehicle crash in Ascension Parish. The accident was reported that morning around LA 70 at Panama Road around 6 a.m. Jayden Lazard, 22, of Opelousas, was Killed in the crash.
According to LSP, a pickup truck was traveling eastbound and an international tractor-trailer was traveling westbound on LA 70. The pickup truck traveled across the center line into the westbound lane and collided with the tractor-trailer head-on. The pickup truck traveled off the roadway and into a ditch. Authorities say Lazard was not restrained and partially ejected from the vehicle. Police are conducting an ongoing investigation and more information will be provided as it continues.
